What should I look for in a strapless bra?

Supportive structure

Look for bras with boning, underwire, or silicone grips to support and keep everything in place.

Quality materials

Look for bras made from breathable fabrics that keep you feeling fresh all day and quality fabrics that will remain supportive even after many uses.

Versatility

Consider convertible options that can be worn with different outfits, such as those with removable straps.

Sizing

Take accurate measurements and ensure the bra fits snugly without digging into your skin. It’s all about getting that Goldilocks fit – not too loose or tight, just right!

Comfort

Choose bras with soft padding and a seamless design to prevent irritation.

How should strapless bras fit?

The perfect bra fit is the key to ensuring that your strapless bra stays in place and provides adequate support.

Band

The band wraps around the torso, providing the primary support and anchoring the bra in place. The right strapless bra should be snug but not tight, sitting comfortably without riding up.

Cups

Ensure the cups encase your breasts fully without any spillage or gaps.

Central Gore

The central gore is the fabric connecting the two cups at the front of the bra. It should lay flat against your chest for optimal support, helping to keep the cups properly positioned and providing additional support.

Underwire

If your bra has an underwire, it should sit flat against your ribcage without digging in.

How to keep a strapless bra up

A well-fitting strapless bra is a must-have addition to every woman’s bra collection. However, a big challenge can be keeping it from slipping throughout the day.

No one wants to be hoiking their bra up every few moments, but without straps to help keep it up, some women can find this a common problem. So, when it comes to the issue of how to keep a strapless bra up, we’ve got some handy tricks for you to try:

Go down a band size

When buying a strapless bra, opt for a fit band size smaller than your usual bra size. While your cup size should stay the same, to compensate for the lack of straps that usually hold your bra up and in place, the band of your bra needs to be tighter than usual to act as a support under your bust.

Choose the right band width for your bust size

The width of your bra’s band can also play a large part. If you’re smaller busted, you may be able to opt for a bra with a regular band width. However, larger busted ladies may need to opt for a thicker band with more hook-and-eye clasps than usual to give your bust the support it needs.

Look for a bra with silicone lining or use adhesive tape

To help ensure your strapless bra stays in place all day, opt for a design that has a sticky silicone lining along the bottom of the cups and a band that provides extra grip against your skin. You can recreate this technique using double-sided fashion tape to keep your bra snugly against your chest.

How do I choose a strapless bra for a big bust?

Look for a bra with a wide band. A wider band can help distribute the weight of your bust more evenly, reducing strain on your shoulders and providing better support.

Underwire bras often provide more support, so look for a sturdy underwire extending along the sides of the cups or strapless bras with side boning for added stability.

Types of strapless bras

Strapless, backless bras

Strapless bras won’t work for every outfit; for those scoop-back tops or backless dresses that require even more discreet invisibility, an adhesive stick-on bra will be your new best friend. Simply stick each cup over your breasts for the perfect shape and that bit of extra support.

Multiway bras

Our multiway strapless bras can be worn in 5 different ways to suit any top or dress. Whether you need a halter style or strapless, this type of bra allows you to remove and reattach your straps whenever needed.

Clear straps

A bra with see-through straps could also be an ideal alternative for larger-busted ladies who can’t forgo strap support.

Plunge strapless bras

Plunge strapless bras are ideal for clothing with deep plunging details that will show off your cleavage. The amazing invisible bra curves inward and lifts the bust, being fuller with more cleavage.
